Botanical Characteristics
Strobilanthes crispa grows up to 1–2 meters tall, with thin, woody stems and bright green, crinkled leaves covered in fine hairs. It thrives in tropical climates, preferring partial shade and well-drained soil. Small tubular purple flowers appear seasonally, adding ornamental value to its medicinal uses.
Traditional Medicinal Uses
In Thai and regional folk medicine, Strobilanthes crispa is used as a natural detoxifier. The leaves are boiled and consumed as tea to cleanse the liver, kidneys, and blood.
