Tom Yum Goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง)

A spicy and sour soup with aromatic herbs, featuring shrimp and traditional Thai flavors.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 stalk lemongrass chopped
  • 3-4 kaffir lime leaves torn
  • 1- inch piece galangal sliced
  • 3-4 Thai chilies crushed
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 100 g mushrooms sliced

Instructions
 

  • Bring the broth to a boil. Add lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, and Thai chilies.
  • Add shrimp and mushrooms. Simmer until shrimp is cooked.
  • Season with fish sauce and lime juice. Serve hot.

Notes

Serve with extra lime and fresh cilantro if desired.
