Som Tum (ส้มตำ) - Green Papaya Salad

A refreshing and tangy salad made from shredded green papaya with a spicy kick.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup shredded green papaya
  • 5 cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1/4 cup green beans cut into pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1-2 fresh chilies crushed
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp peanuts crushed
  • 1 tbsp dried shrimp

Instructions
 

  • In a mortar, pound garlic and chilies. Add dried shrimp and peanuts, lightly pounding to combine.
  • Add green beans, cherry tomatoes, and shredded papaya. Add fish sauce and lime juice, then mix well.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with extra peanuts if desired.

Notes

Best served fresh with a wedge of lime on the side.
